Best Integrated Routines For High Intensity Athletes

The physical movement associated with sports can be hard on the body. Running, jumping, tackling, can all put a stress on the muscles, bones, and joints. High intensity athletics can take the stress on the body one step further. With more and more athletes wanting to challenge and test their limits, it is more important than ever to make sure the body is properly cared for.

 

High intensity activities such as Cross Fit allow athletes to greatly improve their health while also making significant increases in strength. These workouts, while extremely positive, can be stressful on the body, often with only minor symptoms to the athlete. In most situations, the athlete is unaware of the stress until pain presents itself in a certain area (most commonly the back, neck, shoulders, or hips).

We recommend that all high intensity athletes consider incorporating chiropractic care into their long term plan. Chiropractic care allows the doctor to monitor the athlete’s body and make any adjustments necessary to minimize stress and maximize performance.

 

Think of it this way. When a mechanic alters a car to go at higher speeds in a shorter amount of time, it still needs to receive regular tune-ups to run clean and effectively. Our bodies also need regular tune-ups to ensure that all of the parts are running in a way to maximize output.

 

High intensity athletes are constantly seeking ways to gain muscle, shape the body, and increase energy. Because of the intensity of the workouts, damage can be inevitable without proper care. In addition to chiropractic care, massage or physical therapy can also help in two major ways: prevention and rehabilitation. Both can be used as a means of dealing with an injury or stress after it occurs, or better yet, as a way to prevent it from occurring altogether.

 

Our integrated approach to athletic care is fluid, meaning that it can change as the individual needs change. We will continue to tailor any maintenance plan based on where the athlete is in his or her training cycle.
