Chiropractic is a primary natural health care profession which does not incorporate the use of drugs or surgery. Chiropractors are trained in standard procedures including history taking, physical, orthopedic and neurologic exams, X-Ray/Diagnostic Imaging, and lab diagnosis. Because of its effect on many conditions, the spine is carefully analyzed. Posture and muscle imbalances are also considered.
Dr. Smith believes that chiropractic care can address muscle and joint pain, and assist in treating a wide range of other health issues. He focuses on what he calls the "big three": chiropractic, diet and exercise. Dr. Smith develops a plan with each patient to optimize his or her health in these areas. He has a special focus on nutrition, rehabilitation, and working with athletes.
Chiropractic adjustments are the main method of treatment at Chiropractic Whole Health. They are effective in treating neuromusculoskeletal disorders, and can assist in the treatment of many other conditions. |

A variety of therapies are used at Chiropractic Whole Health to speed the healing process and improve patient comfort. These include: acupuncture point stimulation, diathermy, electrical muscle stimulation, heat or ice, muscle energy techniques, neurodynamics, therapeutic ultrasound, spinal traction and trigger point therapy. These are used in combination with chiropractic adjustments to provide the most effective treatment.
Poor nutrition plays a big role in the development and maintenance of many illnesses. Dr. Smith advises patients on diet changes they may need to make. When appropriate, he also provides nutritional supplements to reduce pain, speed recovery or promote overall health. In some cases, Dr. Smith will order blood testing to determine specific nutritional deficiencies.

Massage therapy is a natural form of health care and a perfect adjunct to chiropractic care. It eases muscle tension and pain, improves circulation and eliminates toxins, and encourages full range of motion.
A session typically lasts 30-60 minutes, and is performed in a private, professional setting. Done prior to treatment, massage provides excellent preparation for chiropractic manipulation of the joints. It is a very relaxing "mini-vacation" for patients.
